Gray AES proudly joined the AIA Kentucky CANstruction competition in Lexington, KY, to support God’s Pantry Food Bank. This annual event unites local architecture firms in a creative challenge: designing and constructing elaborate sculptures using canned goods. The best part? Every can is donated to help families across 50 Kentucky counties, making a significant impact on food insecurity in our community.
This year’s theme, “Kentucky Heritage,” inspired our team to craft an iconic bourbon bottle and mint julep sculpture, celebrating the traditions and culture that make our state unique. Through teamwork, creativity, and a shared commitment to giving back, Gray AES was able to bring this vision to life.
For us, CANstruction was more than a design challenge—it was a chance to connect with peers, use our skills for good, and support a cause close to our hearts. Hunger is a challenge that affects far too many families, and we’re honored to contribute to the fight against it in a meaningful way.
The canned goods from this event contribute to the vital mission of God’s Pantry Food Bank, which distributes food to families facing hunger throughout Kentucky. Gray AES is proud to play a role in this effort, blending art, design, and philanthropy to support neighbors in need.

CANstruction is a global program that encourages teams of architects, engineers, and students to design and build structures entirely from canned food. The finished sculptures are displayed as works of art before being donated to local food banks to combat hunger.
